IBM Support

Configuring Visual Studio 2015 with IBM Rational Rhapsody results in a failure to highlight error messages when they are double-clicked in the output window.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Normally when you double-click an error message in the Rhapsody output window, the cause of the error message (source code or features window showing the model element) is highlighted to assist you in resolving the error. However, when using Visual Studio 2015 this appears to no longer highlight the cause of the error.

Cause

Rhapsody is expecting a specific text pattern from the Visual Studio build error message. If this independently changes, then this feature will no longer work in Rhapsody.

Resolving The Problem

You can change the pattern Rhapsody is expecting using the CPP_CG::MSVC::ParseErrorDescript and CPP_CG::MSVC::ParseErrorMessage properties:

For example, in Visual Studio 2015, Microsoft has removed a whitespace from the Visual Studio 2015 error message. In this case you would need to also remove an extra whitespace from the above properties:
