Error description

• DB2 Admin Recover job failed when it was tring to print out the
  message ADB5300E:
  
  USER ABEND CODE 4038  REASON CODE 00000001
  IBM0032S ONCODE=612  The CONVERSION condition was raised
           because a conversion error occurred when converting a
           character string to an arithmetic value.
           From entry point MSG_OUT_API at statement 9925 at
           compile unit offset +000002F2 at entry
           offset +000002F2 at address 1D595A8A.
  

Local fix

• Follow ADB5300E Programmer response:
  
  Complete the pending changes first, or change the PCACT
  parameter to SUPERSEDE and re-submit the job.

  *                      to prevent the change from being        *
  *                      recovered.  However, the recover        *
  *                      job fails with RC=12 / Return Code 12   *
  *                      and the following ONCODE=612 /          *
  *                      ONCODE612 error :                       *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  The following are fixed:
  
  1 - In DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS, if there are pending
  changes that modify the same or related objects for a current
  recovered change, the recover job should fail with RC=8 /
  Return Code 8 and error message ADB5300E / msgadb5300e to
  prevent the change from being recovered.  However, the recover
  job fails with RC=12 / Return Code 12 and ONCODE=612 /
  ONCODE612 error.
  
  2 - In DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS, Version 11, Release 2,
  if running a change, after pressing ENTER on panel ADB2CEX1
  'Run a Change', the message 'Processing error' is displayed on
  subsequent panel ADB25TU1 'Utility Template Use'.
  

Problem conclusion

• 1 - The program has been corrected to issue error message
  ADB5300E / msgadb5300e when submitting the recover job if
  there are pending changes that modify the same or related
  objects for the current recovered change.  To recover this
  change successfully and set the pending changes to 'DEFINED'
  status, the user should set the PCACT parameter to SUPERSEDE
  and then re-submit the recover job.
  
  ADB5300E The pending changes action parameter (PCACT) is
           set to CANCEL. This prevents the change from
           being recovered when there are pending changes
           that modify the same or related objects. To
           recover this change and set the pending changes
           to DEFINED status, set the PCACT parameter to
           SUPERSEDE and re-submit the job (e.g. PCACT(
           SUPERSEDE)).
  
  Explanation:
  The change cannot be recovered when there are pending
  changes that modify the same or related objects. The
  pending changes action parameter (PCACT) is set to CANCEL.
  
  System action:
  Processing stops.
  
  User response:
  Complete the pending changes first, or change the PCACT
  parameter to SUPERSEDE. Then, resubmit the job.
  
  2- The program has also been corrected to resolve the
  'Processing error' problem on panel ADB25TU1 'Utility
  Template Use' when running a change in DB2 Administration
  Tool for z/OS, Version 11, Release 2.
