Issues with updated IBM Rational Software Architect Designer 9.6.1 and IBM Rational Software Architect Designer for WebSphere Software 9.6.1

Problem

When user updates the IBM Rational Software Architect Designer 9.6 or IBM Rational Software Architect Designer for WebSphere Software 9.6 to the latest version 9.6.1 by using Installation Manager update, certain functionalities like Swagger modeling, Deployment modeling, Java modeling etc will be missing in the updated product.

Symptom

Issue can be manifested in many forms as it is one of the core plugin on which many other features depends on it.

Here is a sample scenario to identify this issue:

When user launch updated IBM Rational Software Architect Designer product and try to create a new model project (File-> New -> Model Project), the following high-lighted model template category such as Java Development will be missing:


Cause

One of the required plugins

IMShared/Plugins/org.eclipse.core.runtime.compatibility_3.2.200.v20140128-0851.jar

gets deleted during the product update.

Resolving The Problem

To resolve the issue you need to follow the below steps:

1. Ensure the org.eclipse.core.runtime.compatibility_3.2.200.v20140128-0851.jar file exists your IMShared/plugins folder.

Note: Download and unzip the attachment to get the required plugin file org.eclipse.core.runtime.compatibility_3.2.200.v20140128-0851.jar.zip



2. Ensure the product's bundle configuration file has the entry corresponding to this plugin:
File location: <SDP>\configuration\org.eclipse.equinox.simpleconfigurator\bundles.info.
Expected entry:
