reserveAvailableInventory not honouring AllowPartialReservation flag

Question & Answer

Question

Why does reserveAvailableInventory not honour AllowPartialReservation flag in IBM Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Suite?

Answer

Whenever Minimum (requestedQty, onHandQty) > Standard Node capacity (this scenario is not allowed since the time node capacity was designed), then, availableQty is calculated as zero and no further reservations are allowed.

When this Minimum (requestedQty, onHandQty)  <= Standard Node capacity (or when no capacity is defined at all), capacity constraint is satisfied, and availableQty shows up but the final reservation depends on allowPartialReservation Flag.

In summary, availableQty is guided by capacity constraint check. The allowPartialReservation Flag comes into play once the capacity constraint is satisfied.
