How to build framework with Rational Rhapsody Designer for Systems Engineers

Question & Answer

Question

How do you build the framework libraries when using IBM Rational Rhapsody Designer for Systems Engineers (Rhapsody Systems Designer) edition?

Cause

You would like to rebuild the framework libraries for a specific compiler, e.g. Cygwin, and the Build Framework menu entry as in Rhapsody Developer edition is not shown.

Answer

The menu entry in Rhapsody Designer for Systems Engineers is called "Create Execution Environment". You can find it in the Simulation menu.

If it is not shown, e.g. in some SysML models, then you need to change the perspective view from Basic to Advanced. To change the perspective view there is a separate selection in the icon bar.

Note that because of a defect in Rational Rhapsody 8.1.5 you can sometimes see both Code and Simulation menu with duplicated menu entries. This display error will be fixed with Rhapody 8.2.
