In Cognos Analytics Dashboard the Scatter Plot does not allow Aggregation

Troubleshooting


Problem

When using dashboard and automatically creating a scatter plot by dragging two items (ex. dragging Unit Price then Unit Cost) overtop of another does not give the option to use the aggregate function.

Symptom

Only filter and format (not aggregate) is available when hovering over the horizontal and vertical axes titles.

Missing data for scatter plot to be able to use the aggregate function

Diagnosing The Problem

Dragging two items (ex. Unit Price then Unit Cost) overtop of another should create a scatter plot. Then hover over the horizontal and vertical axes titles and see that only filter and format (not aggregate) is available when hovering.

Resolving The Problem

Add two more data items (ex. Year and Quarter) to populate "Color by" and "Size by" (Simply drag these overtop of the already automated scatter plot). Then you will notice that when you hover that option to aggregate is there.
