How to point to new corporate LDAP server in IBM Rational Directory Server?

Question

How do you update or modify the corporate LDAP server information in IBM Rational Directory Server?

Cause

The changes have been made to your corporate LDAP or Active Directory Server and now you want to update the LDAP information in Rational Directory Server to point to a new location.

Answer

If the changes are only made to the hostname or port number of LDAP server:

- Login to Rational Directory Administrator
- Expand Configuration option from left pane
- Select Corporate Partition
- From the right pane, Right_click on the partition and select Edit Partition
- Update Host/IP and port number for the LDAP server
- Click OK

If the changes were made to the Admin DN to authenticate to RDS, you will need to supply new Admin DN. To do so,
Within Edit Partition, change tab to "Change Account"
Check box for "Change Account"
Supply new Admin User DN and password.

Once confirmed, you can go back to Users and Groups options from left pane to verify all the users and groups populated successfully.

If anything changed on the corporate directory structure, you will need to modify the Search Base Configuration in Edit Partition.
