BackorderedFromNode status quantity does not reduce even after the line is released

Question & Answer

Question

Why does not the BackorderedFromNode status quantity reduce even after the BackorderedFromNode line is released in IBM Sterling Order Management.

Cause

This is working as designed.

Answer

Quantities can be backordered either before release (by the scheduler) or after release (by the node). The Backordered status has the actual total backordered quantity, while Backordered From Node status has the quantity backordered after release (i.e. by the node). By design, Sterling does not reduce the Backordered From Node status quantity down the line.

All order processing is based on the Backordered status only. The Backordered From Node status is only a reference to know how much quantity was backordered from the node and hence can be ignored. The getCompleteOrderDetails API still shows Backordered From Node status as it is there in the system and it might be required to know at some stage as to how many quantities were backordered from node.
