Question & Answer
Question
How do you migrate IBM Sterling Order Management from one server box to another?
Cause
You want to run the upgraded version of the product in a server with supported version of the Operating system.
Answer
Yes, you can migrate the product from one server box to another server box.. However, foundation upgrade requires both the runtime directories to be on the same server box .
Steps to migrate:
- Copy the old runtime from the old server box to the new one with the same directory structure.
For example - /opt/IBM/Sterling/Foundation.
- In this copied runtime on the new server box , if any property files (particularly sandbox.cfg) were referring to the old server box as localhost instead of IP (for e.g. DB_HOST in sandbox.cfg when DB server is in the same older server box), change localhost to the IP of the old server box
- For all changes made in sandbox.cfg to take effect, do run the script /opt/IBM/Sterling/Foundation/bin/setupfiles.sh on the new server box.
NOTE: The copied runtime is not a functional runtime, but a file repository that can enable you to get through with the upgrade process.
