Scanning wrong location during pick

Troubleshooting

Problem

Scanning the wrong location during pick does not allow the user to correct but instead forces entering an exception code.

Symptom

One of the changes seen with hot fix installations is what happens when the wrong pick location is scanned. When accidentally scanning the wrong pick location, the user is taken to an exception code screen and not allowed to correct it. You have to either enter an exception code and pick from the wrong location or press F10 . The chosen process is to press F10 which breaks up the shipment picking more than desired.

The steps to follow :

  1. Create inventory and create a shipment to pick that inventory.
  2. Wave that shipment making sure there is a shipment group setup to pick , have it setup to do order picking.
  3. Once fully waved, go into the RF and the Outbound Picking screen to start picking.
  4. Follow the picking process but for the source location enter a different location.

The expectation and way it used to work is to ask the user if they want to override the pick location or simply allow the user to change it before proceeding to the item.

Diagnosing The Problem

When a proper scan is done, no reason code is needed.

Resolving The Problem

Once you log in to RF and go to Outbound Picking screen to start picking, follow the picking process But for the source location, enter a different location, it proceeds to the next screen where in suggested location and scanned location will be displayed.Along with that it asks for a reason code. In that Screen instead of entering reason code, if you tab out it goes to scanned location display filed in the same page where you get an option to scan the location again.

If you override the location, you have to provide a reason code and if you scan the proper suggested location, you do not have to give the reason code and can proceed to next screen.
