Question & Answer
Question
You are having a synchronization problem with IBM Rule Designer and Decision Center. You would like to know what documentation you must collect (MustGather) so that the IBM Operation Decision Manager Support team can diagnose your problem. If you gather this documentation before contacting support it will expedite the troubleshooting process, and save you time.
Answer
Generate a trace to analyze synchronization details.
1. Close the existing Rule Designer.
2. In eclipse.ini, add the following arguments each one on a line as below:
-vmargs
-Djava.util.logging.config.file=logging.properties
3. Create a file logging.properties at the same location than eclipse.ini with the following content
-vmargs
-Djava.util.logging.config.file=logging.properties
3. Create a file logging.properties at the same location than eclipse.ini with the following content
handlers=java.util.logging.FileHandler
java.util.logging.FileHandler.level= FINE
java.util.logging.FileHandler.pattern= synchro%u-%g.log
java.util.logging.FileHandler.limit= 50000000
java.util.logging.FileHandler.count= 10
java.util.logging.FileHandler.formatter= java.util.logging.SimpleFormatter
java.util.logging.SimpleFormatter.format=%1$tc:%4$s: %5$s(%2$s) %6$s%n
.level=INFO
ilog.rules.synchronization.level=FINE
ilog.rules.model.dataaccess.level=FINE
#uncomment the lines below if you are using 8.8.0 or earlier version
#httpclient.wire.level=FINEST
#org.apache.commons.httpclient.level=FINEST
#org.apache.http.level=FINEST
#org.apache.http.wire.level=FINEST
4. Run the action that does not work. A series of file synchroX-X.log will be generated at the same location than eclipse.ini. Include those .log files in a .zip file to be collected.
5. The Rule Designer workspace logs. You can find these in the file .log in the .metadata folder of the workspace.
6. Decision Center logs.
These can be found in the logs folder of the Application Server that the Decision Center is deployed on. If working with WebSphere Application Server, make sure you also retrieve the log files in the logs\ffdc folder.
7. Rule Designer version and configuration
In "Help > About Eclipse SDK ", click the "Installation Details" button. Select the Configuration tab and use the button copy to clipboard to save the information. Paste the information to the file rdversion.txt
8. Decision Center version
In the console, click "About" on the upper-right of any page.
Collecting the data
- synchroX.X.log files
- Rule Designer workspace log
- Decision Center logs
- rdversion.txt
- Decision Center version and level
Once you have collected this information, you can simply submit the diagnostic data to IBM support.
