IBM Support

Upgrading the JDK used to the latest fixpack level

Question & Answer

Question

How do you update the JDK used in IBM Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Foundation to the latest fixpack level?

Answer

Steps to resolve:

  1. Take a copy of the below jars from <INSTALLDIR>/jdk/jre/lib/endorsed
    serializer.jar, xalan.jar, xercesImpl.jar and xml-apis.jar.

  2. Replace the jdk folder with the latest fixpack level.

  3. Place the 4 jars backed up in step 1 into jdk/jre/lib/endorsed.

  4. Change JVM_LOC in <INSTALLDIR>/properties/sandbox.cfg to the location the JDK was copied from. Do not use soft links in unix

  5. Run setupfiles.sh from <INSTALLDIR>/bin

NOTES:
  • Refer to System requirement for the supported JDK version and make sure the product is installed using the supported version

  • Make sure the application server JDK/JRE is also updated to the corresponding level

  • Upgrading JDK major version is not supported after installation of the product.

For example:
Once you install SSFS with JDK 1.6 you cannot change the JDK version to 1.7. Product reinstallation is required for changing major version.
