Troubleshooting
Problem
After a file system corruption, the entire guardium directory is lost including the uninstall command. If Guardium Installation Manager (GIM) is attempted to be installed, the system thinks the current version is still present. Example: [root]# ./tmp/GuardiumInstall/guard-bundle-GIM-9.0.0_r64382_v90_1-rhel-6-linux-x86_64.gim.sh -- --dir /opt/guardium/modules/ --tapip 10.19.209.118 --sqlguardip 10.69.235.31 --perl /usr/bin/ -q Verifying archive integrity... All good. Uncompressing Guard Installer.... Error : GIM is installed but not running. Please start gim by running 'start gim_71327
Resolving The Problem
Check if there is STAP / KTAP installed with command "lsmod|grep tap":
AIX
genkex | grep 'tap'
Linux
lsmod | grep 'tap'
Solaris
modinfo | grep 'tap'
HP-UX
lsdev | grep 'tap'
-If KTAP is loaded, it needs a system reboot to clean up the GIM & bundle STAP. Without a reboot, it will be complicated since the file system was deleted.
-If no KTAP is loaded, you can easily uninstall current GIM client and install a new one.
To clean up the GIM manually:
1.Run "initctl list|grep _" to list gsvr_xxxxx and gim_xxxxx service, if any of them is started, please stop it by command "stop gsvr_xxxxx" or "stop gim_xxxxx".
2.Go to /etc/init and remove the "gsvr_xxxxx.conf" and "gim_xxxxx.conf" file.
After that, try to install the Guardium Installation Manager (GIM).
If it still fails with some error, check if you have the uninstall.pl under GIM. If the uninstall.pl exists, use uninstall.pl to uninstall the GIM again.
