Troubleshooting
Problem
When using the Centralized Installation Manager in the Deployment Manager to install a new WebSphere Application Server version 7.0.0.0 on a new node, the node agent cannot be started. Similiarly, if you use Centralized Installation Manager to uninstall a version 7 fixpack and the node agent rolls back to version 7.0.0.0, the node agent will not be able to start.
Symptom
From the node agent's SystemOut.log, you will see the following error messages. "ADMU0031E: Node Agent launched but failed initialization. Process id was: [process id]." and "CWPKI0033E: The keystore located at '/opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/Custom01/config/cells/[cell name]/nodes/[node name]/key.p12' failed to load due to the following error: Error in loading the keystore: Private key decryption error: (java.security.InvalidKeyException: Illegal key size)."
Cause
WebSphere Application Server has improved the security of the communication between the Deployment Manager and its nodes. Nodes which are running version 7.0.0.0 cannot communicate with the Deployment Manager.
Resolving The Problem
Upgrading the node to any fix pack for WebSphere Application Server version 7.0 should resolve this problem. However, it is highly recommended to upgrade to the latest available fix pack whenever possible.
