Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere MQ V6 and V7 (fix pack 7.0.0.2 and below). Platforms affected: All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: The runmqchi process reads the trigger messages present on SYSTEM.CHANNEL.INITQ and tries to start the respective channels. Once it reads the trigger message, it inquires the respective channel definitions before actually starting the channels. During this step, it sends an inquire request to the agent process. If the queue manager is in an ending state during this timing window, then the agent process returns a "MQRC_Q_MGR_STOPPING" reply message to the runmqchi process. Once runmqchi process gets this reply message, it tries to access some data which is beyond the reply message buffer resulting in an access violation.
Problem conclusion
A check has been added for reason code "MQRC_Q_MGR_STOPPING" before trying to access the reply message buffer, which prevents the access violation. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: v6.0 Platform Fix Pack 6.0.2.9 -------- -------------------- Windows U200313 AIX U828012 HP-UX (PA-RISC) U827381 HP-UX (Itanium) U827383 Solaris (SPARC) U827693 Solaris (x86-64) U828055 iSeries tbc_p600_0_2_9 Linux (x86) U827380 Linux (x86-64) U827694 Linux (zSeries) U827590 Linux (Power) U827382 Linux (s390x) U827695 v7.0 Platform Fix Pack 7.0.1.0 -------- -------------------- Windows U200306 AIX U823774 HP-UX (PA-RISC) U823665 HP-UX (Itanium) U823667 Solaris (SPARC) U823772 Solaris (x86-64) U824344 iSeries tbc_p700_0_1_0 Linux (x86) U823664 Linux (x86-64) U823773 Linux (zSeries) U823668 Linux (Power) U823666 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available, information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
