Troubleshooting
Problem
When running the GIM native installer script you see the error message "./autoinstall.sh: /usr/local/guardium/modules/perl: not found". GIM was previously running on the server but was uninstalled before trying this install.
Cause
GIM uninstaller will remove all GIM related entries from the server inittab (or equivalent) only if they are not commented at the time of uninstall.
Running GIM uninstall while inittab entries are commented, then later trying to reinstall GIM may result in this problem.
Environment
UNIX database servers with GIM.
Diagnosing The Problem
Check the /etc/inittab of your server. If you have this problem there should be lines similar to:
#gim:2345:respawn:/usr/bin/perl /usr/local/gim/modules/GIM/9.0.0_r57263_1-1406208940/gim_client.pl
#gsvr:2345:respawn:/usr/local/gim/modules/perl /usr/local/gim/modules/SUPERVISOR/9.0.0_r57263_1-1406208941/guard_supervisor
Resolving The Problem
All GIM entries in the inittab must be totally removed before trying to reinstall GIM.
1. Manually remove the lines from the inittab
2. Attempt to install GIM again from the installer script.
Note: This problem would be avoided if GIM entries were not commented in the inittab at the time of uninstall.
