Error description
ANR2400E is reported when running delete volhist for volume of type=remote. Volumes effected are owned by a library client. . Entries in the volume history output may resemble the following: . Location for volume A01481 is: 'TSM_SERV_1' 2004/05/06 11:58:30 REMOTE 0 0 1 UNKNOWN A01481 . Volume insert date and time is always the exact time that the 5. server was installed. . Impact: TSM is not able to delete these volumes using the delet volhist command. The volumes will never return to scratch.
Local fix
Users can issue the command: DEL VOLHIST TODATE=TODAY TYPE=REMOTE VOLUME=<volname> FORCE=YES where <volname> is the name of the failing volume.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All ITSM server users with library sharing. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In certain cases, the OWNER field of a * * library volume can be updated to the * * name of the library manager. This can * * cause the situation described in the * * ERROR DESCRIPTION. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing level when available. This * * problem is currently projected to be fixed * * in level 5.2.4. Problem conclusion
The ITSM server will be updated to recognize this special case, and it will no longer create volume history entries as described in the ERROR DESCRIPTION. NOTE: The local fix describes a command that should only be used if a REMOTE volume no longer has valid data on it and can be considered a scratch volume. Once executed, any server could use the volume to overwrite any existing data. Use caution whenever you delete any volume history entry. Never set the OWNER field of a library volume to the name of the library manager. If you need to swap which server is the library manager, make sure all the OWNER fields for each library volume is changed appropriately.
