Results of importing SysML XMI files are not consistent before and after Rhapsody v8.0.3

Troubleshooting

Problem

Attempts to import XMI files written for SysML using IBM Rational Rhapsody v8.0.3 (or newer) results into different representation of models as compared to the ones imported from pre-v8.0.3 releases.

Symptom

When you import the attached XMI (original.xmi) in Rhapsody v8.0.2 and v8.0.3, and compare the two results, you will notice "sample1" element is represented as "Requirement" in v8.0.2 as opposed to "Class" in v8.0.3:

Steps to Reproduce:

Go to Tools > Import > From OMG UML/XMI
Select original.xmi and start import

EXPECTED RESULT (v8.0.2):

ACTUAL RESULT (v8.0.3):

Cause

The difference was introduced primarily because of changes made in the formal release of OMG SysML1.3 profile:

Rhapsody v8.0.2 or older contains a beta version of OMG SysML 1.3
Rhapsody v8.0.3 or newer contains the final version of OMG SysML 1.3

Between those two versions, the OMG made two key changes:

Now the URI is http://www.omg.org/spec/SysML/20120401/SysML (was previously http://www.omg.org/spec/SysML/20110919/SysML)
Now the standard prefix is "sysml" (was "SysML")

In addition, the attached file (original.xmi) contains two problems to be addressed:

For being compatible with UML, the model should have a profile application referencing SysML profiles.
The loading in v8.0.2 was possible due to usage of schemalocation. But schemalocation is not stable, thus its usage is not recommended.

Resolving The Problem

You are able to import original.xmi successfully if following four changes made to your XMI files:

Replace http://www.omg.org/spec/SysML/20110919/SysML to http://www.omg.org/spec/SysML/20120401/SysML
Replace strings as below:

xmlns:SysML by xmlns:sysml
all <SysML: by <sysml:

Add below into the current model:

<profileApplication xmi:type="uml:ProfileApplication" xmi:id="_sysml_profile_app" applyingPackage="aaaaaa_11111_11111">
<appliedProfile xmi:type="uml:Profile" href="http://www.omg.org/spec/SysML/20120401/SysML.xmi#_SysML__0"/>
</profileApplication>
Remove useless sysml reference in schemalocation:

http://www.omg.org/spec/SysML/20110919/SysML
http://www.omg.org/spec/SysML/20110919/SysML#_-SGc0WkIEeGOXcmk2Ys47g
