IC99034: SLOW INSERT PERFORMANCE WITH CONCURRENT INSERT OPERATIONS AND BITMAPS ARE NOT PRESENT IN BUFFER POOL

Error description

• The situation is the following ...
  
  - A constantly growing table.
  - Table contains many bitmap pages.
  - There are many sessions inserting into the table at the same
  time.
  - An occasionally issue is seen at checkpoint.
  - Sessions/threads are forced to wait for access to a bitmap
  page whilst the owning thread also has to wait for the page to
  be retrieved from disk.
  - The sequential nature for accessing the bitmaps magnifies this
  problem when the I/O is slow.
  - As there is a need to be in critical sections to perform some
  of this work, it is an issue at a checkpoint and can lead to an
  instance being blocked.
  - A blockage of about 70 seconds has been seen.
