Error description
When communicating to a DNS server, if DataPower receives a server failure message, DataPower does not use the next DNS server in the list.
Local fix
Problem summary
Affected are DNS configurations with multiple DNS servers and the round-robin algorithm. In case a DNS server returns an error response code, Datapower might wait up to one second and then retry the query to the same server, causing an unnecessary delay before trying the next DNS server. This is due to an incorrect algorithm handling DNS error responses. The fixed code generates a query to the next DNS server immediately on reception of an error DNS response.
Problem conclusion
Fix is available in 4.0.2.14, 5.0.0.9 and 6.0.0.1. For a list of the latest fix packs available, please see: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21237631
