Error description
On a V5 Tivoli Storage Manager Server, the PRIMARY.VOLUMES.REPLACEMENT.CREATE stanza in a recovery plan file was used to create replacement volumes for primary storage pools that use device class DISK. It contains entries like: 1: For disk storage pools with volumes on filesystems: print Replace /stg/vol1.dsm DISK 10,202.8M in backuppool /usr/bin/dsmfmt -m -data /stg/vol1.dsm@ 10202 2 : For Disk Storage Pools with Raw volumes: print Replace /dev/rtsm_5YR DISK 10,240.0M in backuppool mklv -y backuppool tsm_vg 40 We removed the stanza from the V6 Tivoli Storage Manager Server because use of the dsmfmt utility is no longer needed to create volumes on filesystems. However, this stanza is still applicable for users with raw disk volumes on Unix platforms AIX and HP so it should be added back to the V6 plan file to reflect this condition. . Platform /Version affected: Tivoli Storage Manager Server V6 on Linux/Unix . Additional keyword: prepare mklv raw volume . Initial impact: low

Problem conclusion
This problem was fixed. The following documentation updates will also be made: 1) In the Administrator's Guide, "Structure of the disaster recovery plan file" add: PRIMARY.VOLUMES.REPLACEMENT.CREATE script During disaster recovery: Edit and run (optional) 2) In the Administrator's Guide, "Example disaster recovery plan file", "Primary Storage Pool Volume Stanzas" add: PRIMARY.VOLUMES.REPLACEMENT.CREATE PRIMARY.VOLUMES.REPLACEMENT.CREATE contains the commands needed to recreate the primary disk storage pool volumes that were created by an mklv command. Note: This stanza will be empty unless you are using raw logical volumes for primary disk storage pools on platforms AIX or HP. You can use this script as a guide and run the commands from a command line, or you can copy the script to a file, modify it, and run it. This script is invoked by the RECOVERY.SCRIPT.NORMAL.MODE script. The SET DRMPLANVPOSTFIX command adds a character to the end of the names of the original volumes listed in this stanza. This character does the following: - Before using the volume names, change these names to new names that are valid for the device class and valid on the replacement system. - Generates a new name that can be used by the replacement server. Your naming convention must take into account the appended character. Notes: Replacement primary volume names must be different from any other original volume name or replacement name. The RESTORE STGPOOL command restores storage pools on a logical basis. There is no one-to-one relationship between an original volume and its replacement. There will be entries for the same volumes in PRIMARY.VOLUMES.REPLACEMENT. begin PRIMARY.VOLUMES.REPLACEMENT.CREATE script #!/bin/ksh set -x # Purpose: Create replacement volumes for primary storage pools that # use device class DISK and were originally created with mklv. # Recovery administrator: Edit this section for your replacement # volume names. New name must be unique, i.e. different from any # original or other new name. print Replace /dev/rtsm_5YR DISK 10,240.0M in BACKUPPOOL mklv -y tsm_5YRS tsm11_vg 40 end PRIMARY.VOLUMES.REPLACEMENT.CREATE script Affected platforms: AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Linux, and Windows.
