IJ18497: CRASH DURING JIT COMPILATION ON Z

• Error Message: a gpf/SIGSEGV/0C4 abend is raised by the JIT
  compiler

  This problem can only happen on IBM Z systems (both z/OS and
  linux on Z)
  The problem is known to occur with
  java/nio/DirectByteBuffer.put(<OSB>BII)Ljava/nio/ByteBuffer;
  and
  java/nio/Bits.copyFromArray(Ljava/lang/Object;JJJJ)V
  which might inline DirectByteBuffer.put
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• To generate code for an array copy associated with a call to
  Unsafe.copyMemory, for a specific case the code generator
  assumed the index register would always be set, but the base
  register could be set instead. As a result a null dereference
  occurred when trying to access the data structure representing
  the index register when the equivalent structure for the base
  register should have been used.
  

Problem conclusion
