Error description

  • DESCRIPTION:
    When attempting to update the Length of the EXTERNALREFID field
    and adding a new attribute, the System Message appears when
    saving the new attribute:
    "BMXAA8229W - Record MAXOBJECTCFG:
    Object=A_WORKORDER has been updated by another user. Your
    changes have not been saved. Refresh the record and try again."
    
    STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
    -Log in to maxdemo instance
    -Go To System Configuration | Platform Configuration | Database
    Configuration
    -In the Object field enter "workorder" and press Enter
    -Click the Audit Enabled checkbox
    -Save the record
    -On the List View tab | More Actions | Manage Admin Mode
    -Click the Turn Admin Mode On button
    -Click OK at the System Message
    -Periodically click the Refresh Status button until System
    Message appears to indicate that Admin Mode is on
    -Click OK
    -Click OK to close the Manage Admin Mode dialog
    -More Actions | Apply Configuration Changes
    -Click the checkbox for "Do you have a current backup?"
    -Click the Start Configuring the Database button
    -Enter the MAXADMIN password
    -In the Reason For Change field enter "test"
    -Click the OK button
    -Click OK at the System Message
    -Click the Start Configuring the Database button
    -Periodically click the Refresh Status button until System
    Message appears to indicate that the database configuration is
    complete
    -Click OK
    -Click OK to close the Structural Database Configuration dialog
    -More Actions | Manage Admin Mode
    -Click the Turn Admin Mode OFF button
    -Click OK at the System Message
    -Periodically click the Refresh Status button until System
    Message appears to indicate that Admin Mode is off
    -Click OK
    -Click the Close button
    -Click the WORKORDER Object
    -On the Attributes tab click Filter
    -In the Attribute field enter "externalrefid" and press Enter
    -Expand the details for the EXTERNALREFID Attribute
    -In the Length field update the value to 100
    -Click the New Row button
    -In the Attribute field enter "NEW_FIELD_1"
    -Save the record
    *System Message appears:
    "BMXAA8229W - Record MAXOBJECTCFG:
    Object=A_WORKORDER has been updated by another user. Your
    changes have not been saved. Refresh the record and try again."
    
    RESULTS:
    *System Message appears upon save:
    
    "BMXAA8229W - Record MAXOBJECTCFG:
    Object=A_WORKORDER has been updated by another user. Your
    changes have not been saved. Refresh the record and try again."
    
    EXPECTED RESULTS:
    The record should save

Problem conclusion

  • To fix this bug is too risky and could cause major regressions
    in the mbo framework code. A simple workaround is click save
    again.
