APAR status

Error description

  • The IBM Spectrum Protect Plus MMC GUI will not be upgraded when
the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus MMC GUI is running on the agent
machine.

Platforms affected: All Windows
Initial Impact: Medium

Local fix

  • Close the SPP MMC GUI before perform granular restore.

Problem conclusion

  • The SPP MMC GUI cannot be upgraded because replacing the running
binaries is not allowed by Windows system. As the fix, SPP
Exchange agent will check if the SPP MMC GUI is running on the
target machine when it need to be upgraded. If we need to
upgrade SPP MMC GUI and it's running, then the granular restore
job will fail with appropriate message output in job log.
