Error description

  • The "Agents" panel within the IBM MQ Explorer Managed File
Transfer (MFT) plugin displays the status of the agents within
an IBM MQ MFT topology. In order to determine an agent's status,
    the plugin:
    - Subscribes to the SYSTEM.FTE topic on the coordination queue
    manager for the topology,
    using the topic string "/Agents/#"
    - And performs some processing of the agent status messages that
    it receives.
The trace generated by the IBM MQ Explorer MFT plugin when it is
processing the status messages is missing useful information,
which makes it difficult for IBM Support to identify how the
plugin has determined the state of an agent.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of the IBM MQ Explorer Managed File
Transfer plugin who are using trace entries to understand the
    state of their agent.

    Platforms affected:
    Windows, Linux on x86-64

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When trace is enabled, the IBM MQ Explorer Managed File Transfer
plugin is able to write trace entries regarding the state of an
    agent.

More detail inside these trace entries could have allowed for a
better understanding of the reasons why an agent was being
reported as being in a particular state.

Problem conclusion

  • Additional trace points for the agent have been added to better
understand the reasons behind the state of an agent.
