APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• During client backup/archive filespace processing GPFS/Scale
  mmremote code may be invoked that will create NODEINFOxxxxx
  files (where xxxxx is 5 decimal digits) in the /tmp directory.
  The client code should be removing these files and not leaving
  them on the filesystem. However a defect in the code is leading
  to these files being left behind. Over time these files may fill
  the filesystem on which /tmp resides. This problem can occur
  even if GPFS/Scale is not installed or in use in the environment
  where this issue is seen.
  Diagnostics:
  The NODEINFOxxxxx files incorrectly left in /tmp will contain:
        sh: /usr/lpp/mmfs/bin/mmremote: No such file or directory
  IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected:  IBM Spectrum Protect
  backup/archive Client 7.1.x and 8.1.x on Linux and AIX
  Initial Impact: Low

Local fix

• Manually delete the NODEINFOxxxxx files from the /tmp directory

Problem conclusion

• The code has been changed and IBM Spectrum Protect for
  Backup-Archive Client will remove all unnecessary files from the
  directory /tmp.
