Error description

  • If a SIGSEGV or similar memory exception happens while
    contacting the LDAP server for user/group information, then
    later queue manager operations involving user/group lookups hang
    permanently.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    Users of a queue manager that suffers a memory exception (for
    example a SIGSEGV) in the area of code within the queue manager
    authorization service (also called the OAM) implementing LDAP
    connectivity.
    
    
    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    Because of the memory exception, the LDAP client code had not
    released a mutex.  A later call to the LDAP client code from the
    same MQ queue manager process, using the same LDAP context
    handle, hung because it waited for that mutex.  The mutex is
    never released, making this a permanent hang in the queue
    manager.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ code has been changed so that the LDAP context handle is
    not used again, following a SIGSEGV or similar memory exception
    in this area of the queue manager.
