Error description
Client can incorrectly process a filelist of IBM Spectrum Scale snapshots with mount point(s) of file system(s) under these snapshot. If the nested file system(s) are mounted and nested mount point(s) are a part of the IBM Spectrum Scale snapshot, then the client should not backup the underlying mount point(s). This issue applies to the global and file set based snapshots. mmbackup also should not backup such directories(with mounted file systems on them). Consider this example: /fs1/.mmbackupCfg/mmbackupChanged.ix.15350.7C9E8C07.1.fs1 "/fs1/file" "/fs1/fs2" "/fs1/fs3" "/fs1/fs4" where /fs1/fs2, fs1/fs3 and /fsq/fs4 are directories with mount points on them. Running the selective command as mmbackup would run it: selective -filelist=/fs1/.mmbackupCfg/mmbackupChanged.ix.15350.7C9E8C07.1. fs1 -verbose -subdir=no -snapshotroot="/fs1/.snapshots/snap1" Selective Backup function invoked. Directory--> 262,144 /fs1/fs4 [Sent] Normal File--> 11 /fs1/list [Sent] Selective Backup processing of '/fs1/.mmbackupCfg/mmbackupChanged.ix.15350.7C9E8C07.1.fs1' finished without failure. so as can be seen one of the nested mount points (/fs1/fs4) was backed up when it shouldn't have been. Tivoli Storage Manager and IBM Spectrum Protect versions affected: Client 6.4.x, 7.1.x and 8.1.x on all supported UNIX and Linux platforms that support IBM Spectrum Scale Initial Impact: Medium Additional Keywords: TSM IBM Spectrum Protect mmbackup nested mount directories
Local fix
Do not attempt to backup directories with mount points on them as part of a snapshot.
