IBM Support

If you use the wlp/usr folder to hold server configurations for the Liberty profile, it might cause problems

Troubleshooting

Problem

Customers who install the IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty profile on z/OS might attempt to use the []wlp/usr[] folder to hold server configurations. Because the product file system is normally mounted read-only on z/OS, using this folder might cause a variety of problems.

Environment

This issue presents itself when the installation directory is mounted read only after the installation, which is best practice on z/OS.

Resolving The Problem

When you configure the Liberty profile on z/OS, store the server configuration and resources in a directory other than wlp/usr.

Set WLP_USER_DIR to point to a read/write location that the server script can use to store the configuration data and transient files.
