Error description
Error Description: Snapdiff backup can fail with: ANS2836E. /vol/snapdiff/test is a partial volume or qtree when incorrect export path specification is used for volume being backed up The message "ANS2836E /vol/snapdiff/test is a partial volume or qtree" does not provide enough information to explain what is wrong with the export path specification and how to fix it. Here is an example that can cause the backup to fail: /vol/snapdiff/test Here is an example with correct volume name so backup can complete: /volume_snapdiff_test/ Documentation needs to be updated to explain limitation regarding the export path used for the volume being backed up during snapdiff backup. Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: 71L Customer/L2 Diagnostics (If Applicable) When the backup fails, you may see the following in the client errorlog: ANS2836E Incremental backup operation using snapshot difference is only available for full volumes /vol/snapdiff/test is a partial volume or qtree. You will see the following in client service trace backsnap.cpp (1644): BacHandleSnapshotPreProcess(): Found remote Volume<volume1> on NAS Filer: <YourNas.domain.name> for path /vol/snapdiff/tes snapcommon.cpp (1178): scIsNasQtree(): NAS export path: < /volume1/snapdiff/test1> is a Qtree
Local fix
here is a new testflag called SNAPDIFFCMODEVOLPREFIX that will allow snapdiff backup to complete. This tesflag will work in 7 or C filer mode. The flag is specified in the client options file (dsm.opt) as follows: . TESTFLAGS SNAPDIFFCMODEVOLPREFIX
