IBM Support

Rational DOORS Trace Analysis result includes unexpected modules

Troubleshooting

Problem

Attempts to run a recursive trace analysis for incoming links in IBM Rational DOORS results in analysis columns for modules you did not open.

Symptom

When you run Trace analysis for all modules and later perform analysis only for modules you open, other modules are included in the results.

Cause

This has been identified as a product defect under APAR PM57746.

Resolving The Problem

The documentation has been updated to better identify how Rational DOORS analysis treats modules opened in the background.

  • When you run an analysis for All modules (in a project), every module is included in the analysis.
  • If you run a subsequent analysis only for modules you open in the same session, the previously identified modules will be included since they were opened for the original analysis.

Note:
When the Analysis scope is for all modules, any unopened item will be opened in the background (modules are opened but not displayed).

To run analysis on only the items you open either:

  • Close your session of DOORS and start a new session
opening only the modules you intend to analyze

  • Use Manage Open Modules Tool to close modules you do not intend to include for analysis
