IBM Spectrum Protect Server V8.1 Fix Pack 1 (V8.1.1) Downloads
APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
The IBM Spectrum Protect server may incorrectly increase the capacity of a container storage pool after a new directory has been defined to the container storage pool, but which we have no access to. An example of this would be if a directory location was defined and the server attempts to use the space within the directory location, but we do not have the correct authority at the filesystem level to be able to create the container files. In this example, the message "ANR3386E Insufficient authority to create file system object " is validly issued, but the space available within the directory location has already been added to the overall capacity of the container storage pool. This APAR was created so an additional check can be made at the time the directory is defined into the container pool to ensure access is sufficient. If access to the directory does not have sufficient authority for the instance id to be able to create files, the directory will still be added to the container, but made unavailable. A warning will be issued at the time of defining the directory if this is the case. The space which would have normally been added to the overall storage pools capacity at the time the directory is defined, will not be added until the container has correct authorisation and is made readwrite. This will avoid a potential false representation of space being available within a container storage pool when we have no access to the defined location. Local fix
Ensure the newly added directory location has permissions to allow the DB2 instance id to write into the location.
