Error description
Problems with the database migration that takes place during upgrades results in an excessively busy Alert Server component which can then impact device server functions, resulting in slow GUI performance across all Spectrum Control views and functions. Evidence of the alert migration problem manifests itself in the alert server logs with messaging similar to this: 1: 2016-07-05 21:32:25.166-0400 *** Error: SrvDskStat is of type Integer; not Short com.ibm.tpc.cep.entityFacts.DeviceEntity getAttributeShort() Default Executor-thread-3841 This is due to entries in the db table: T_RULE_CONSTRAINT.PROPERTY_NAME='SrvDskStat', With all T_RULE_CONSTRAINT.VALUE_TYPE having values of 1 (ConsolidatedConstraint.VALUE_TYPE_SHORT). 2: 2016-07-08 09:23:38.114-0400 *** Error: Unable to Analyse Expression isRelatedTo($StorageNodeEntity_entityId, $StorageNodeEntity_topLevelId): [Error: unable to resolve method using strict-mode: com.ibm.tpc.cep.entityFacts.StorageSubsystemJobEntity.isRelatedT o(int, int)] [Near : {... isRelatedTo($StorageNodeEntity ....}] *JobEntity refers to Probe or PM status alerts. This is a special type of alert where Spectrum Control does not allow multi-condition. In other words, there should only be one constraint entry in T_RULE_CONSTRAINT for these alerts. Checking the alerts for StorageSubsystemJobEntity (Storage Probe or PM status alerts), There are many alerts that have more than 1 entry. This APAR improves tracing to better capture problems with alert migration during upgrades.
