Is it possible to replace Object Heading Number with user defined number in IBM Rational DOORS?

Question & Answer

Question

Can you change or modify Object Heading Number with user defined number or setting in Rational DOORS?

Cause

You have Object Heading Number in Rational DOORS and you want to change or modify with user defined number or setting.

Answer

No, the Object Heading Number in Rational DOORS is a System attribute and generated automatically by the DOORS. Therefore, Object Heading Number cannot be edited or modified.

While you can't directly modify the Object Heading number assigned by DOORS, it is possible to change the level of objects (which will in turn change the Heading Number) by cutting the Heading and it's children (the text objects below it), then pasting it below or at the same level as objects that have the desired numbering. Another alternative would be to include the user-defined number as part of the Object Heading in parenthesis before the actual heading text.
