Troubleshooting
Problem
Running the upgradeUtil.dxl script to upgrade from the DOORS-Change Interface 5.7 to the OSLC-CM integration in IBM Rational DOORS version 9.3 fails at the step: "Enter the Change Server Database path:"
Symptom
After entering the IBM Rational Change Server Database path, the following error is displayed:
"Connect to Rational Change failed. Can not connect to the Change server.
It is either invalid login or Change Server database path, or the Change Admin user account is locked".
Cause
Possible causes:
- Invalid Change Server database path
- Change Admin user account is locked
- No DOORS-Change integration template exists
- A DOORS-Change integration template exists, but has been created while the DOORS-Change interface 5.7 (or earlier version) was installed
- A DOORS-Change integration template exists and has been created using the OSLC-CM integration in Rational DOORS 9.3, but this has been set up using OAUTH authentication
Diagnosing The Problem
Check whether in the "Enter the Change Server Database path:" dialog no Change-Server URL is displayed, as in:
"If the URL is not a Change Server URL, please click cancel."
This instead should be reading:
"If the URL <http://<myserver>:8600/change is not a Change Server URL, please click cancel."
If the URL is displayed, then causes 1 and 2 are the most likely.
If the URL is missing, then causes 3 to 5 are the most likely.
Resolving The Problem
If causes 1 and 2 are likely responsible, then check if database path is correct and Change Admin user account is not locked.
For cause 2, see technote 1409143:
How to reset the password of the Admin account in Change 5.x
If cause 3, 4, or 5 is likely responsible, then ensure there is one DOORS-Change integration template using OSLC-CM integration in Rational DOORS 9.3, and with Basic authentication instead of OAUTH authentication.
