Error description

• The backup of a symbolic link can fail with messages ANS1228E
  and ANS4047E in the dsmerror.log when the following conditions
  apply:
  1. the symbolic link is contained in a snapshot of a GPFS file
     set
  2. the snapshot has been specified for backup using the
     snapshotroot option
  3. the symbolic link refers to a file outside the file set
  .

Problem conclusion

• If using snapshotroot option with GPFS fileset, links will be
  backed up now.
  

Temporary fix

• A fix for this problem is currently targeted for interim fix
  package 7.1.4.4. Until the interim fix is actually available
  this information is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
