Error description
TPC installer logs the following: BPCIN0163E the service name configuration parameter cannot be queried from the DB2 Database manager. Reboot the machine after DB2 installation. SQL Error Message is SQL10007N Message "-1390" could not be retrieved. Reason code: "6". The provided suggestion to reboot the TPC server after DB2 installation does not resolve this problem. THe -1390 DB2 return code is defined as: A function resolved to a specific function that is not valid in the context where it is used. If specific-name is an empty string, then the function resolved to the built-in function identified by function-name. This happens when the VarDBPort is empty (within the InstallVariable.properties file). That parameter is created by the TPC installer but fails to create in cases where the DB2 SVCENAME parameter doesn't match what the TPC installer expects. This is not caused by user error. RECREATE STEPS: Attempt to install a new TPC server onto an affected system. Note the BPCIN0163E with SQL10007N/"-1390" messages ________________________________________________________________ DB2 Version used for Server: Supported DB2 versions The defect is against component: 5608TPC00 Server/Manager build/release (TPC): 5.2.6 ________________________________________________________________ Problem as described by customer: Unable to installl TPC Initial customer impact (low/med/high): med
Local fix
Workaround for Windows: 1. Open up db2 command windows by typing db2cmd. 2. Type db2 get dbm cfg | findstr (SVCENAME) . The output should look something like TCP/IP Service name (SVCENAME) = db2c_DB2 3. cd to %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\ and make a backup of services file. 4. Open services file %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\service. 5. Search for service name (step #2 in bold) or port number if you know it. Check if the case of the service is the same. If not make it the same. The entry in the file should looks something like db2c_DB2 50000/tcp. 6. Run install or upgrade. Once finished restore %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\service backup file. Note! This issue is fixed in 5.2.7 and later. Workaround for AIX and Linux: 1. Source db2instance user e.g . ~db2inst1/sqllib/db2profile 2. type db2 get dbm cfg | grep \(SVCENAME\). The output should look something like TCP/IP Service name (SVCENAME) = db2c_db2inst1 3. Make a back up of /etc/services 4. Open services file located at /etc/services. 5. Search for service name (step #2 in bold) or port number if you know it. Check if the case of the service is the same. If not make it the same. The entry in the file should looks something like db2c_db2inst1 50000/tcp 6. Run install or upgrade. Once finished restore /etc/service backup file. Note! This issue is fixed in 5.2.7 and later.
