Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: The issue affects users of the WebSphere MQ V8.0 Managed File Transfer component who install the MQMFT Tools component without the MQMFT Agent component. Platforms affected: MultiPlatform **************************************************************** PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In MQ MFT 8.0 a dependency was placed on the MQMFT I/O Exit support for the fte commands. This was necessary in order to support security credential information stored in z/OS data sets; to be used for authentication purposes when connecting to a queue manager. The MQMFT I/O Exit support is included with the MQMFT Agent install component as jar file: mqft/lib/com.ibm.wmqfte.exitroutine.api.jar However this jar file is not included with the MQMFT Tools install component. Hence without installing the MQMFT Agent component, invoking any of the fte commands will report an FFDC and an internal error. The command otherwise finished successfully, assuming that the security credentials were not required to communicate with the queue manager.
Problem conclusion
The fix is to provide the missing MFT I/O Exit support jar with the MQMFT Base install component, which is a prerequisite for all other MQMFT install components. The new MFT I/O Exit support jar is provided in the MQMFT Base component as file: mqft/lib/com.ibm.wmqfte.exitroutine.api.base.jar and the MFT I/O Exit support jar within the MQMFT Agent install component will be updated to have all classes removed, so that they are not duplicated. Note that the new jar is a different name to the MFT I/O Exit support jar provided in the MQMFT Agent install component because files within install components must be uniquely named across all install components. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Version Maintenance Level v8.0 8.0.0.5 The latest available FTE maintenance can be obtained from 'Fix List for WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition 7.0' http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27015313 The latest available MQ maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
