Error description
When upgrading from V6, the V7 Tivoli Storage Manager installer can fail to verify that the existing DB2 instances are capable of being upgraded with the db2ckupgrade utility. The following error may be experienced during the upgrade attempt: =====> IBM Installation Manager> Error ERROR: Error during "pre-install configure" phase: Details: ERROR: Error ANRI1061E: The db2ckupgrade failed for database TSMDB1 in instance tsminst1. This failure can occur if a non-default umask has been defined at the operating system layer (for example, 027 on AIX). Customer/L2 Diagnostics: Review the installation logs (TechNote 1664161) to determine if the following error is reported prior to the failure: DBT5501N The db2ckupgrade utility could not open or write to the file named "/var/ibm/InstallationManager/ logs/native/tsm_logs/db2ckupgrade_tsminst1.log". Per this error message, the instance user could not write to the db2ckupgrade log file at the path specified. This error causes the upgrade to fail. If any directory in the path provided by the error message does not have at least 755 permissions, then this APAR is a match. Each directory needs at least 755 permissions so that the log file can be written to by the instance user (tsminst1 in this case). Initial Impact: Medium Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: All users upgrading to V7 Tivoli Storage Manager server. Local fix
Change any directory in the path reported by the DBT5501N message to have at least 755 permissions or temporarily change the umask settings with a system administrator and retry the upgrade.
