IBM Tivoli Storage Manager V6.3 Fix Pack 6 (6.3.6.000) Server Downloads
APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
Tivoli Storage Manager Server may fail to dismount a cartridge from a tape drive when the Logical Block Protection (LBP) option is enabled. The ANR8302E and ANR8355E messages do show up at the server console. ANR8302E I/O error on drive <drive name> (mtx.x.x.x) with <volume name> (OP=SETMODE, Error Number=6, CC=207, rc =2863, KEY= 05, ASC=1A, ASCQ= 00, SENSE=F0.00.05.00.00.00.00.10.00.00.00.00.1A. 00.00.00.94.19.00.00.00.00., Description=Device is not in a state capable of performing request). Refer to the Tivoli Storage Manager documentation on I/O error code descriptions. (PROCESS: 2) ANR8355E I/O error reading label for volume <volume name> in drive <drive name> (mtx.x.x.x). (PROCESS: 2) Customer/L2 Diagnostics: The problem is in the Logical Block Protection function that can cause Tivoli Storage Manager device driver to use an incorrect data length for the SCSI mode select command. In this case the data length is related to the tape medium format and the setmode command is unable to interpret it correctly when the Logical Block Protection is enabled on the tape drive itself.
