Error description
Error Message: Command "java -Xshareclasses:destroyAll" may hang with JVMs later than Java 6 if there exists some obsoleted Java 6 or Java 5 control files for non-persistent shared caches . Stack Trace: N/A .
Local fix
The obsolete shared cache control files can be deleted using the Java 6 or Java 5 JVM with the same command: JAVA_6_OR_5/bin/java -Xshareclasses:destroyAll
Problem summary
The problem is caused when there are Java 6 non-persistent shared cache semaphore control files, obsoleted by a machine restart, opened by a JVM later than Java 6 for the purpose of deleting the caches, and there is an existing IPC semaphore resource in OS memory which uses the same id expected by the obsolete control file.
Problem conclusion
This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 6 R1 SR8 (6.1.8.0) 7 R1 SR1 (7.1.1.0) 7 SR7 (7.0.7.0) . The JVM has been updated so that the obsolete control files are detected, and removed if possible.
