IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture Log in Authentication failed.

Troubleshooting


Problem

When a user was attempting to create a new subscription. the following error message is displayed. CDC is not authorized to replicate to this target. login authentication failed. Login failed for user .

Symptom

Source IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture is not authorized to replicate to this target. Login authentication failed.
A SQL exception has occurred. The SQL error code is '18456'. The SQL state is: 28000. The error message is: Login failed for user '<user>'.
A SQL exception has occurred. The SQL error code is '0'. The SQL state is: 08001. The error message is: [CDC][SQLServer JDBC Driver]An error occurred while attempting to log onto the database.

Cause

This error occurs because the source engine is trying to login to target engine.  The user ID the source engine sends to the target engine has no permissions on the target. The source engine gets this ID from MC when a subscription is created.

Diagnosing The Problem

Ensure that the user account specified is a valid SQL login as well as a Windows login account. 

Resolving The Problem

From Management Console, select the DataStore your attempting to access. 
Right mouse click and select properties. 
Down at the bottom of the screen Update Related Subscription,  click on the Button. 



The next window displayed will show:



Select OK.
