Error description
The WebSphere MQ Resource Adapter was configured to pause the endpoint after the specified 'sequential message failure' was reached, but the message endpoint did not pause as expected when concurrent messages failed.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: Users of the WebSphere MQ Resource Adapter running within the WebSphere Application Server, that is making use of the "Stop endpoint if message delivery fails" function. Platforms affected: MultiPlatform **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: When the "Stop endpoint if message delivery fails" function is enabled for a WebSphere MQ Activation Specification within WebSphere Application Server, the value of the corresponding: "Number of sequential delivery failures before suspending endpoint" is used to control the point at which the endpoint is suspended, following a series of failures to process messages. If multiple messages are being consumed concurrently for one message endpoint, for example where there are numerous messages available for processing on the source queue and the activation specification is configured to process multiple messages in parallel (the default configuration), then it was possible that the number of failing message deliveries could exceed the configured value. This resulted in the message endpoint not being suspended at the expected point.
Problem conclusion
The WebSphere MQ Resource Adapter has been updated to inform the WebSphere Application Server with the correct information about a delivery failure occurrence when running concurrent message deliveries. The result of this is that the WebSphere Application Server will now suspend the message endpoint when the "Number of sequential delivery failures before suspending endpoint" limit has been reached. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Version Maintenance Level v7.0 7.0.1.12 v7.1 7.1.0.5 v7.5 7.5.0.4 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
