Java virtual machine error -- Could not find a Java virtual machine to load.

Troubleshooting


Problem

During installation of the Sentinel RMS Network License Manager the following error presents: LaunchAnywhere Error Could not find a Java virtual machine to load. You may need to reinstall a supported Java virtual machine. Installation of the Sentinel RMS Network License Manager fails.

Environment

Windows Server Standard 2008 SP2 32-bit
Windows Server Standard 2008 SP2 64-bit
Windows Server 2008 32-bit or 64-bit

Resolving The Problem

Execute the command argument 'java -version' from the command prompt.

IF the command response indicates Java is not installed, THEN install the latest Java version for your computer operating system. www.java.com

IF the command response indicates Java is installed, THEN disable or appropriately configure the Enhanced Security Configuration on the server and install the latest Java version for your computer operating system. www.java.com
If you continue to get the above error and are unable to update your java version, something on the server is restricting the update. You will need to resolve this restriction and update your Java in order to get past this issue.
