Error description
When compiling an application with multiple modules, the 'xlfhot' component of the compiler is encountering an internal infinite recursive loop, resulting in a signal 11 internal compiler error: 1501-224 (S) fatal error in /usr/lpp/xlf/bin/xlfhot: signal 11 received
Local fix
Problem summary
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The compiler hangs or abnormally terminates when compiling a WHERE construct containing calls to the PACK/UNPACK intrinsics. For example: where (pack(..., mask(:))) ... elsewhere ... end where USERS AFFECTED: Fortran programmers who use pack/unpack as the mask expression in WHERE.
Problem conclusion
An internal mask expression for the WHERE statement was not being updated in the compiler, resulting in a recursive loop. The issue has been corrected.
