How to simulate Inventory Demand Publishing from Sterling (MCF) OMS to an external inventory availability system

Question & Answer

Question

How to simulate Inventory Demand Publishing from Sterling (MCF) OMS to an external inventory availability system

Answer

Scenario:

- OMS houses the actual demand picture for all orders coming into OMS
- An external inventory availability system sets ready to provide inventory snapshots as requested by 3rd parties
- Therefore, OMS needs to update the external inventory system with its inventory demand picture (via either a partial or full sync) on a periodic basis

Solutions:

Create an asynchronous service, configured as time-triggered. This service can invoke any one of the following APIs based on the requirements:

a. getDemandDetailsList
b. getDemandSummary
c. getSupplyDetails
d. getInventorySnapShot

All of these APIs will return the inventory demand details for the some specific combination (for example, item node). Based on the output, compare the results with the existing demand in the external inventory availability system, and when there is a mismatch, make the required changes to get OMS and the external inventory system in sync.
