Error description
The DISPLAY CHANNEL STATUS command showed a number of channels as RUNNING for client applications which had disconnected due to an earlier error. The DISPLAY CONN command shows no connection for the channel.
Local fix
Restart the qmgr to clear the orphaned channels.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: Queue Managers which host connections from v7 client applications which are using SHARECNV > 0. Platforms affected: All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: A timing condition in the SVRCONN thread in the amqrmppa process exists where the 2 threads responsible for the connection, are attempting to respond to a MQRC_CONNECTION_BROKEN reason code from the queue manager. The final stages of the client channel shutdown is that the primary thread must wait for secondary thread to complete, however the secondary thread is sometimes able to end without the primary thread being notified. The primary thread then waits indefinitely leaving the CHANNEL STATUS display showing a running channel for a client application which has disconnected.
Problem conclusion
When the async-consume is ending due to a CONNECTION_BROKEN reason code returned by the queue manager it ensures that the main channel thread is notified that it has ended. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: v7.0 Platform Fix Pack 7.0.1.8 -------- -------------------- Windows U200335 AIX U845856 HP-UX (PA-RISC) U847965 HP-UX (Itanium) U847970 Solaris (SPARC) U847966 Solaris (x86-64) U847972 iSeries 7.0.1.8 Linux (x86) U847967 Linux (x86-64) U847971 Linux (zSeries) U847968 Linux (Power) U847969 v7.1 Platform Fix Pack 7.1.0.1 -------- -------------------- Windows 7.1.0.1 AIX 7.1.0.1 HP-UX (PA-RISC) 7.1.0.1 HP-UX (Itanium) 7.1.0.1 Solaris (SPARC) 7.1.0.1 Solaris (x86-64) 7.1.0.1 iSeries 7.1.0.1 Linux (x86) 7.1.0.1 Linux (x86-64) 7.1.0.1 Linux (zSeries) 7.1.0.1 Linux (Power) 7.1.0.1 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
