• Error Message: /usr/java6/jre/bin/java -version:1.6* -version
  Unable to locate JRE meeting specification "1.6*"

  Stack Trace:

  Confirmed the following command does not work on latest Java 6
  32bit and 64 bit.
  java -version:1.6 -version
  Command fails with message "Unable to locate JRE meeting
  specification 1.6"
  Equivalent command on Java 5
  java -version:1.5 -version
  produces standard version info.
  

Local fix

• No Work around.
  

Problem summary

• This functionality (java -version:n.n) provides the facility for
  user to specify a particular version of the system SDK to be
  used for execution when multiple version of SDK installed in the
  machine.
  In Java 6, this functionality was implemented only for Windows
  platform.
  

Problem conclusion

• This defect will be fixed in:
  6.0.0 SR10
  6.0.1 SR2
  7.0.0 SR1
  .
  java -version:n.n functionality is implemented on Unix
  platforms.
  .
  To obtain the fix:
  Install build 20111026 or later
