Problem
MCSF 8.5 installation fails on Windows XP with an IBM JDK
Symptom
Caveat: The installation of MCSF 8.5 is not officially supported on Windows XP, but because so many Sterling Commerce employees and many customers use this operating system on their local PCs, we wanted to provide some helpful information. Windows Server 2008 is the only supported Windows-based operating system on which MCSF 8.5 was fully tested.
Problem: When attempting to install MCSF 8.5 on Windows XP using an IBM JDK (e.g. IBM JDK 1.6.0 that is shipped with WebSphere), the installation fails immediately with errors such as:

Resolving The Problem
The most common and effective resolution to this problem is to obtain a non-IBM JDK (e.g. BEA or Sun) to use with the installation. Be sure to update the JAVA_HOME and PATH environment variables to reflect the new JDK.
Retry the MCSF 8.5 installation; it should flow nicely.
