Resolving The Problem

Q) How do I configure YCS to use the UPS Hundredweight service?

A) Instructions can be found in DCS_YCS_Integration.chm, which comes with DCS_Help.chm. (Search for "Hundredweight")

After reading this document, if you still have questions, here are some FAQ's about this configuration:

Q) Which records I need to insert into YCS_GENERAL_CODES?

A) There are 3 types of records you need to insert:

a- For the manifest SCAC, you need to insert a separate record of CODE 'HUNDREDWEIGHTSVC' for each service code you want to configure to use Hundredweight. The service code should be stored in the VALUE field.

b- For the manifest SCAC, you need to insert a separate record of CODE 'HUNDREDWEIGHT' for each service code. The cutoff weight UPS uses to qualify cartons for Hundredweight goes in the VALUE field (you need to verify this with UPS), and the service code for which this weight applies goes in the DESCRIPTION field. Do not try to make one record apply to multiple service codes.

c- You will also insert ONE record of CODE 'CWTIND'

Q) Is the freight charge in PICK_TICKET recalculated for shippers that qualify for Hundredweight?

A) This feature is not supported as of 7/18/2005. Please refer to solution 15834 for updates.

*****OLD INFO BELOW THIS POINT***********

You need to set up a new carrier service and including rules specific to Hundredweight (CWT) after loading in the rates. (for eg: weight for freight calculation is based on shipper weight and not on carton weight. minimum shipper weight = 200 lbs, minimum carton weight=10lbs.) need to treat like an LTL service but each carton has to be weighed.

DCS identifies shipments eligible for UPS hundred weight based on the total weight of the shipments.
eg: If total weight of shipment is greater than 200lbs (For UPS Ground and 3 day select), then it will be eligible for UPS Hundred weight.

In PLD upload, one of the attribute for hundred weight indicator 'CWT Ind' can have 3 values as below.

-0 Not HundredWeight
-1 Shipper identifies shipment as qualified for HundredWeight. Shipment may be broken into single pieces for billing if bill value is less as single packages.
-2 Shipper requests HundredWeight pricing be maintained. Shipment will retain multi-piece structure for billing regardless of lesser bill value

If shipper on DCS is idetntified as eligible for UPS Hundred weight, DCS will upload to UPS a value of '1'.
If shipper on DCS is not eligible for UPS hundred weight, DCS will upload to UPS a value of '0'.

CWT Ind value of '2' will never be used in DCS integration. Hence, UPS will determine the lesser of the freight charges (computed based on the hundred weight or computed on a per package basis) and invoice the lesser of the two.

There will not be any ability for users to choose shippers to be considered for UPS hundred weight. It will be determined by DCS automatically.

You can calculate the freight charges yourself by using the UPS Hundredweight Calculator, found here:
